The Positive Test

I've taken lots of tests in my lifetime, some more fun than others. There was the ACT my junior year of high school (not bad), my driving tests a couple months after I turned 16 (VERY bad, although I did pass the second time around thanks to a small miracle). But my favorite was the one I took on May 26, 2011 which told me I was going to be a mom, and Nate a dad! I rushed home from work that afternoon, took the test and was thrilled when it came back positive. I knew Nate was only a few minutes behind me on his way home, so I placed his childhood nightstand in the middle of what will soon be the baby's room. I put a Vikings onesie and booties on top of it, along with the positive test, and made up a story about how our cat, Shady Lady, had gotten into trouble upstairs (she would never!) so of course he rushed up there right away. He whipped the door open, expecting some exasperating evidence of Shady's misadventures but was beyond excited to find my little display, sharing the best news he had ever received. At that moment, our lives were changed forever.
